Terms of Use

The rules for using RAKSHA Ireland. Looking for our Privacy Policy?

RAKSHA does not replace emergency services and a community response is not guaranteed. In a life-threatening emergency, always call 112 or 999 first.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the RAKSHA Ireland mobile application, website, and related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you should not use the Service.

2. Not a Replacement for Emergency Services

RAKSHA is a community-powered safety network. It is NOT a replacement for the emergency services and is not an emergency response provider.

  • In any life-threatening, medical, fire or crime emergency, you must call 112 or 999 first.
  • RAKSHA does not dispatch police, ambulance, fire or any professional responders.
  • You should never delay contacting the emergency services in order to use the Service.

3. No Guarantee of Response

A community response is provided on a best-effort, voluntary basis and can never be guaranteed. You acknowledge that:

  • There may be no verified members nearby, or no member may accept your alert.
  • RAKSHA makes no guarantee regarding responder availability, arrival times, or the actions any responder does or does not take.
  • Responders are asked to offer non-confrontational support only and to prioritise contacting the emergency services.

4. Eligibility & Verified Accounts

  • One real identity: You may only register using your own genuine identity and a valid government photo ID.
  • Manual approval: Accounts are reviewed manually and may be declined or deactivated at our discretion.
  • No impersonation: Creating fraudulent accounts, impersonating others, or attempting to bypass identity verification is strictly prohibited.
  • Minimum age: The Service is intended for adults. We will publish a minimum age requirement before public launch.

5. Responsible Use & Conduct

To keep the network safe and reliable, you agree that you will not:

  • Trigger false or malicious SOS alerts, or otherwise misuse the alert system.
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or endanger any other member or person you encounter through the Service.
  • Use the Service to confront, pursue, detain, or take the law into your own hands.
  • Attempt to identify, contact, or track another member outside the purpose of responding to an alert.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service.

Serious or repeated breaches may result in an immediate permanent ban and, where appropriate, referral to the Gardaí (police).

6. Responder Conduct

If you choose to respond to an alert, you do so voluntarily and at your own discretion. You agree to:

  • Prioritise your own safety and never enter a situation that appears dangerous.
  • Offer reassurance and support only — never physical intervention or confrontation.
  • Call 112/999 when professional help is needed.
  • Respect the privacy of the person who raised the alert and use their information only to help them.

7. Single-Device Policy

Each account may only be actively signed in on one device at a time. Logging in on a new device will automatically sign you out on the previous device. This helps protect your account from sharing and unauthorised access.

8. Beta Service & Availability

RAKSHA is currently offered as an early-access beta. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" and may change, be interrupted, or be withdrawn without notice while we develop and test it.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, RAKSHA is not liable for any loss or harm arising from reliance on the Service, the availability or actions of community members, or any failure or delay of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, misused the Service, or created a risk to other members. You may stop using the Service and request deletion of your account at any time via our Contact page.

10. Changes & Governing Law

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified within the app or on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
