Why this blog exists
Personal safety information for Ireland is scattered across dozens of PDFs, Garda press releases and half-updated council pages. When something happens — or you're just trying to help a family member move to a new city safely — you shouldn't have to piece it together from Reddit threads and outdated leaflets.
We're going to publish clear, well-sourced, Ireland-specific safety guides here, written in plain English.
What we'll cover
- Emergency service basics. What 112 does that 999 doesn't. How to describe your location. When to text 112.
- Location-specific guides. Getting home safely from a night out in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick. Where the Safe Places are. What actually works on the LUAS at 1am.
- Community safety. How Neighbourhood Watch, Text Alert, and CommunityText really compare. What lone-worker checks look like in Irish workplaces.
- Honest tech reviews. We're building an app — we're not going to pretend we're the only answer. We'll cover Nala, bSafe, Life360, Emergency SOS on iPhone and Android, and how they actually perform in Ireland.
Who we are
RAKSHA Ireland is a community-powered personal safety network, currently in Android beta. When you hit SOS, we don't just call one contact — we notify verified nearby responders and your circle, share live location, and keep a full audit trail.
We're not a replacement for 112 or 999. We're the layer that helps in the gap between "something feels wrong" and "I've actually rung the guards".
Want to try it?
Join the Android beta waitlist. It's free, we email you once when your invite opens, and that's it — no spam, no partners, no reselling anything.
More posts coming soon. If there's a specific safety topic you'd like us to cover, drop us a line at support@rakshaireland.com.
